Occupation: I am the Tai Chi and Qi Gong instructor at the Newtown Senior Center. I also teach at centers in New Milford, Bridgwater, Fairfield, and Ridgefield. I’ve been doing this for 12 years. I’m a watercolor and mixed media artist, as well, and currently have a show hanging at the Hideaway on Route 25 in Newtown.

Family: I’m single now. I have three children. Dana is married to Matt Holler. K.T. and Ethan are my other two children, and are both in college now. I have a grandchild on the way in February, and am so excited about that.

Pets: I don’t have any pets right now. My beloved 18-year-old Bailey, a mutt, had to be put to sleep last year.

How long have you been at the Newtown Senior Center?  I’m a New Milford resident, but I have been with the Senior Center for three years, thanks to a grant from the Health Department.

What do you like to do in your free time? I play the flute and piano, and I aspire to be a singer. I like to write, and journal every day. I hike, and kayak, and bike. I do like the outdoors.

Do you have a favorite author? I love Tom Robbins, all of his books. They’re a little weird, but great.

Do you have a favorite travel destination? Anywhere I can go. I get in the car and go — to North Carolina, the beaches, anywhere. I would like to do more traveling.

What is the best thing about Newtown? My sister lived here, so I’m familiar with the town. I love Edmond Town Hall, and I like the atmosphere and setting at the Hideaway Café. I’m very sorry that Lexington Gardens is no longer in Newtown. I did a lot of my Christmas shopping there for years. And I have to say, I have found the Newtown Senior Center to be a very welcoming place.

Who do you most admire? Mother Teresa is up there. I like what she said, that she wouldn’t support anybody in any war. She prayed for the all, not the one, and I liked that.

Do you have a personal philosophy? Present moment, only moment. Your life is now.

Do you have a guilty pleasure? Dancing like a crazy woman whenever I can. When I do go out, I like to let loose.
