EverWonder Children’s Museum is aiming to reopen its doors at 31 Pecks Lane in late March, thanks to a recent and successful fundraising campaign.

Museum coordinators credit a $40,000 Challenge Grant from the Jeniam Foundation and the EverWonder Children’s Museum Board of Directors with reaching the $80,000 needed to reopen the museum’s doors.

“The donors really made this happen,” said EverWonder Executive Director Tamara Tragakiss Barry. “Because of them, we’ll be able to once again offer great exhibits and programming to children in Newtown and the surrounding communities.”

Along with Jeniam’s $25,000 and the board’s $15,000 in matching funds, over 200 individuals and organizations donated or pledged a combined $40,049. Support from Wells Fargo, in the form of donated Whalers tickets, provided an added incentive on the last weekend of the campaign, helping the museum to reach its goal.

Staff and volunteers have already begun preparing the new museum space for an expected grand re-opening. At approximately 7,000 square feet, the new space is more than triple the size of the old. The original EverWonder space ran successfully from April 2013 until August 2014 in a building at 31 Pecks Lane, before the board decided to relocate into a larger, nearby location.

Along with new programming and exhibits, the museum also plans expanded hours. For information about its reopening date, hours of operation and membership and admission fees, contact the museum at 203-364-4009 or visit .www.everwondermuseum.org

EverWonder's mission is to inspire a lifelong love of learning in children through interactive exhibits and programming in science, technology, engineering and math. EverWonder is a 501(c)3 non-profit based in Newtown, and serves families in a 20-mile radius.
