The tipoff time for Newtown High School’s boys’ basketball team’s Class LL state tournament first round game has been changed. The Nighthawks will host Kennedy of Waterbury at 6 pm tonight, Monday, March 9. The game was originally scheduled for 7 pm. Admission is $8 for adults and $5 for students.

Newtown is the tournament’s No. 16 seed and Kennedy is the No. 17 team in the bracket. This is a rematch of last year’s opening round clash when then No. 11 Kennedy beat the No. 22 Nighthawks in Waterbury.

On the ice, Newtown High’s hockey team begins Division III state tourney action with a visit to the University of Connecticut’s rink in Storrs to take on EO Smith-Tolland at 6:45 pm tonight. Newtown is the No. 16 seed and EO-Smith Tolland is the top-ranked team in D-III.
