Put On Those

Socks!

To the Editor:

I was at a medical office today (March 7). While I was waiting I observed a woman and small child (one year or younger). The weather is nice today, but still only about 50 degrees. The woman had on a coat, but had no coat, hat, or even socks on the child. I was amazed and appalled.

Parents, keep your children warm! The little ones can’t tell you if they’re cold. If you have a jacket on, the kid needs one too! And those poor little bare feet. I don’t care if it’s only between the car and the office or the car and the house — put socks on them! And no whining that you can’t keep the socks on them, that’s your job as a parent or caretaker.

On another matter, I must comment on Donald Ramsey’s Letter to the Editor in the March 7 issue. He states, “The best and brightest public servants will find new opportunities elsewhere.” Well, a very large portion of our “best and brightest” don’t even live in Newtown. Wonder why? Maybe they can’t afford the taxes?
