A Film Forum With Two Attractions: Movies And Aid
A Film Forum With Two Attractions: Movies And Aid
NEW MILFORD â The humanitarian group Our Towns for Sar-e Pol will present a film forum of five classic films to be shown at New Milfordâs Bank Street Theater beginning on October 3. Each film will be personally introduced by an area resident artist associated with the making of the film being shown, including Mia Farrow, Arthur Miller, Milos Forman, Frank McCourt, Tom Cole and Joyce Chopra.
Our Towns for Sar-e Pol is a nonpartisan, humanitarian effort by Litchfield Hills area towns to raise money (channeled through the Save The Children organization) for the desperate needs of women and children in the war torn Afghanistan province of Sar-e Pol. A major objective of Our Towns for Sar-e Pol is to be an inspiration and model for other Connecticut and American towns to mount similar campaigns to aid the people of Afghanistan.
The Film Forum project was conceived by Our Towns for Sar-e Pol members Ann Nevel and Kathy Van Hemert, who are partners in New Milfordâs The Firehouse Clothing & Home Shop. Through their efforts, Richard Freedman, the new owner of The Bank Street Theater, is donating an auditorium in the theater for each film showing in addition to the film rentals and projection.
A subscription package price of $150 per person includes a general admission ticket to all five films (Sundays at 3 pm), a gift certificate from The Firehouse Clothing & Home Shop, and a Subscription purchases are available by calling 860-210-1518.
The film schedule follows:
October 3 â Rosemaryâs Baby (1968) introduced by the filmâs star, Mia Farrow;
November 14 â The Misfits (1961) introduced by the filmâs writer, Arthur Miller;
