Eckankar means “Co-worker with God” and offers simple daily spiritual exercises to explore your own unique and natural relationship with the Divine. The ECK worship service, which is the first Sunday of each month at 11 am, includes music and discussion of a spiritual quote followed by fellowship and refreshments. An introductory book discussion, The Call of the Soul, meets the third Sunday of every month at 11 am.

The subject of the March 18  Bible Lesson-Sermon is “Matter,” Golden Text, Proverb 23:5, “Wilt thou set thine eyes upon that which is not?” Each Wednesday, from 7:30 to 8:30 pm, there are readings from the Bible and The Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, after which the congregation is invited to hear and to share testimonies of healing through prayer. Newtown Bible Church is a Bible-centered New Testament church that focuses on exalting God through the clear exposition of His inspired word (2 Tim. 3:16). Members strive to go beyond understanding it intellectually, to also have a heart for God and live changed lives as a result (Eph. 4:11–13). Sunday services begin with Fellowship at 9:30 am, Sunday School at 9:45 (with classes for all ages), worship service at 10:45 (nursery and children’s service is provided). Other services and opportunities include Prayer Meetings Wednesday, 7 pm at the pastor’s home (parsonage); Men’s meetings the first and third Saturday at the church; Women’s Bible Study, Tuesdays 7 pm, and Women’s Fellowship, fourth Saturday of the month, 9 am at Panera Bread (Sand Hill Plaza). The 10 am fourth Sunday in Lent and Communion worship service on Sunday, March 18, will include a message “Outward Bound”, based on John 3:14-21, by Reverend Janice Touloukian. Reverend Matt Crebbin and Allysa De Wolf will assist during the service. The Stewardship celebration will continue this week; please bring your pledges to the worship service. The children will begin in the sanctuary, then go to the Great Room for Small Chapel following the children’s message and then on to church school. The confirmation class will meet at 11:30 a.m. in the church library. This is also Food Pantry Sunday (the third Sunday of the month) — please bring nonperishable food items for donation. Calendar includes: March 21, Wednesday evening Lenten AWE (Alternative Worship Experience) continues every Wednesday until March 28. A dinner is offered at 6 pm in the Great Room fellowship hall, worship begins at 7 pm in the church sanctuary.

Each Wednesday in Lent there will be a service of Taizé at 7:30. This style of worship consists of simple chants sung repeatedly, rich silence, glowing candlelight, and prayers of intercession. All are encouraged to participate as the spirit moves them, whether that be in song, prayer, or quiet meditation. The service is preceded by a Lenten teaching from 6 to 7:15 pm in the Undercroft, titled “Straight Talk About Simple, Just Living.”

This service is a powerful witness to the systematic rape and violence against girls and women in the DRC. It is also a testament to their strength and hope for the future.
