NPOA Hosts New Cable Show
The Newtown Property Owners Association is producing a new television program, Newtown Speaks Out, which will be shown by the local cable television company on public access Channel 21 twice a week.
The first installment of the 30-minute program will be aired Tuesday, February 20, at 6 pm and again of Friday, February 23, at 11:30 am on the Charter Communications cable television system. The series will continue for up to 13 weeks.
Newtown Speaks Out, hosted by Barry Piesner of the association, will have guest speakers on issues of importance to Newtown residents, according to the association.
The first program will involve a review of local issues by Mr Piesner.
The second program, to be initially broadcast on February 27, will feature an interview with Ruby Johnson and Douglas Brennan, two Legislative Council members who are in the middle of their first term.
 Upcoming program topics will include the future of Fairfield Hills, the presence of uranium in drinking water, alternatives to raising taxes, upgrading sports and recreation facilities, the town road network, upzoning, and the future of the municipally-owned property on Queen Street.
Mr Piesner is seeking television guests to discuss local issues to better inform residents in preparation for the November town elections, according to the association. Candidates seeking office in the upcoming town elections are asked to appear on the program. For details, call 452-0077, extension 12.
