Before the Thursday, December 4, evening Winter Concert performance by Sandy Hook School’s fourth grade students kicked off at Newtown High School, the students rehearsed earlier in the day.

Standing on different rows of risers inside NHS’s auditorium, the fourth graders listened as Sandy Hook School music teacher Maryrose Kristopik gave them advice or praised them for their efforts. The students rehearsed the songs they would sing that evening and practiced entering the auditorium from the high school’s chorus room, where they would gather before the main event that evening.

Sue Vogelman accompanied the group on the piano for the event. For some songs students used props, and for other songs student groups broke out to dance or move to the music. Sing-along songs with the audience were also offered.

The songs performed for the Winter Concert included “Winter Fantasy,” “Count on Me,” “Snow Day,” “I See A Star,” “Eight Days and Nights,” “Reindeer Boogie,” and “Light The Candles All Around The World.”

Sandy Hook School fourth grade students rehearsed performing “Reindeer Boogie” during the day on Thursday, December 4, for their Winter Concert, which was held that evening.
