Newtown 50, Bethel 35 â Taylor Steimle canned 16 points while Kyle Wilcox and Josh Barrett combined for 17 more as Newtown won its second straight game of the season.
Intermediate Girls
Hawks 20, Jaguars 12 â Anna Northrop canned six points and Kate Butera added four to lead the Hawks to a season-opening win over the Jaguars. Kelly OâSullivan, Caitlin Yakush and Sara Hasselburger played well. For the Jags, Taylor Brady had four points and Emily Peters had six rebounds while Melanie Rotante and Olivia Phenix played well.
Da Bears 13, Hawks 11 â Georgia Contois and Cassie Ekstrom powered Da Bears to the win. Rachel Karnoff and Natalie Galante were key off the boards. For the Hawks, Caroline Kingsley popped in four points while Anna Northrop, Hope McMorran and Kiely Kuligowski had strong efforts.
Mercury 26, Huskies 11 â Powell poured in 10 points to lead the Mercury past the Huskies. Catherine Neave and Tess Murray played well. For the Huskies, Lynch scored four points while Shannon OâGorman, Emily Grimes and Megan Foy had good performances.
Gaels 24, Hurricanes 18 â Lauren Sarna scored 11 points to lift the Gaels past the âCanes. Taylor Zingaro, Marian Blawie and Oliva Korth had solid games. For the âCanes, Lauren Meyer powered the offense as Bethany Dubois, Sara Principi and Nicole Rothenburger played well.
Vols 29, Knicks 20 â Lindsay Jossick poured in 16 points as the Vols slipped past the Knicks. Kelsey Parker dished off three assists while Rachel DiVanno and Rachel Wiberg (four rebounds) played well. For the Knicks, Jessica Gibbons canned 10 points and Lia Tassinari added six to go along with three assists. Gibbons made three steals and Jill Maher had four rebounds.

Huskies 25, Mavericks 19 â Chris Carroll and Matt Wood combined for 17 points to lead the Huskies to the win. Ty Runkle, Jim Leidlein and Dan Spillane played well. For the Mavs. Rob Linden canned 10 points while Jordan Sock and Adam Harrison had solid performances.
Celtics 39, Cavaliers 14 â Nick Cagganello scored 14 points and Benton Scott added six to pace the Celtics. Jason Horowitz led the D with three steals. For the Cavs, Matt Lindell popped in 10 points as Matt Barga, Sam Boland, Garrison Buzzanci (five steals) and Nick Strokis (five rebounds) played well.
Runninâ Rebels 25, Nighthawks 19 â Lago scored 10 points to lead the Rebels to the win. For the âHawks, Tim Kelly scored 12 points while Spencer Brindley and Jon Schwartz had solid performances.
Notre Dame 31, Knicks 23 â Matt White scored nine points and Logan Puleri added six more to lead the Irish to the win. Angel Santos and Ryan Pisani played well. For the Knicks, Jacob Moore had eight points as Daniel Winn and Justin Weiner had good games.
Raptors 34, Knicks 19 â Pat Riccardi scored five points and grabbed 14 rebounds to lead the Raptors to the win. Myles LoBuglio added six points as Tyler Gibney and Dean Lindquist played well. For the Knicks, Joe Davis had four points and six assists while Jack Zahansky grabbed nine boards.
Blue Devils 43, Grizzlies 16 â Reid Schmidt poured in 24 points to power the Blue Devils to the win. Sean Elliott, Tag Schmidt and Dean Demers had solid performances. For the Grizzlies, Alex Roche canned eight points while Christian Mather, Dave Cartisano and Kyle Buckley played well.

Da Bears 46, Knicks 16 â Ashley Perry canned 14 points while Nicole Rotante added eight more to power the Bears. Kelly OâConnor dished off eight assists and Alyson Blume played well. For the Knicks, Deanna Tassinari scored 11 points and made four steals while Jessica Haitz dished off five assists and Breanne Lubinsky pulled down six rebounds.

Vipers 51, Regulators 18 â Max Nacewicz scored 11 points to lift the Vipers to the win. Jimmy Mooney and Nick Dinelli played well. For the Regulators, Greg Campbell scored seven points while Scott Wexler dished off three assists. Peter Ovendorf had a solid offensive game.
Regulators 37, Gotham Gators 28 â Sam Kerr poured in 23 points to lift the Regulators. Greg Campbell dished off five assists and Ryan Dunnigan made three steals. For the Gators, Cody Fisher scored 10 points, Jack Kneisel had six assists and Cody Williams played well on D.
Wildcats 42, Hawks 27 â Mark McLaughlin scored 16 points and Max Brazo added 14 more to lift the âCats past the Hawks. Matt Vavrek and Austin Ryder led a stingy defense. For the Hawks, Austin Jones scored 13 points while Kevin Dinn (3 steals) and Jack McManus (3 rebounds) played well.
Huskies 53, Hurricanes 41 â Curtis Droniak scored 12 points and Tom Capozziello added 10 more to lead the Huskies to the win. Chris Haylon, Theo Hartlett and Mac Morlock all played well. For the âCanes, Chris Tenney popped in 13 points and Hank Helgren added 10 more. Sean Burson dished off six assists and Jason Marks made four steals.
Thunder 41, Eagles 29 â Will Arndt, Doug Broadbeck and Alex Nordstrom combined for 20 points as the Thunder sailed past the Eagles. Broadbeck blocked eight shots while Owen Swain pulled down 12 rebounds and Ben Stoller dished off three assists. For the Eagles, Will Northrup scored nine points and grabbed seven rebounds while Mike Zaccaro had seven points. Eric Samuelson had four assists and five steals while John Fellin scored four points and grabbed six rebounds.
Rockets 34, Hornets 21 â Brian Reed scored 14 points to lift the Rockets to the win. Mario Pizighelli dished off four assists as Austin Cirella and Kevin Dennis had strong performances. For the Hornets, Jake Enriquez scored 11 points while Gabe Ruiz, Joe Pieretti and Matt Dos Santos played well.
Thrashers 40, Hawkeyes 37 â Kevin Phillips scored 13 points and Jimmy Russo pulled down eight rebounds as the Thrashers slipped past the Hawkeyes. Thomas DiLuoffo dished off six assists and Alex Saviano had four steals. For the Hawkeyes, Lewis Thompson popped in 14 points as Rob Uhde made five steals and Francis Afriyie had eight rebounds in a comeback effort that just fell short.
