Test Drive

Police have been testing this white, colorfully marked Chevrolet Impala police cruiser to learn how it performs on patrol duty. At the rear is a Ford Expedition sport-utility vehicle, which police sergeants use while on supervisory duty. Police normally patrol in Ford Crown Victoria cruisers, which are larger, longer, and heavier than the Chevrolet. The Impala is a front-drive vehicle, unlike the Crown Victoria, which has rear-drive propulsion. The Chevrolet police test car, which has generic police markings, has New York State marker plates.                                                                                                                        —Bee Photo, Gorosko
