Stephen Joseph Knoll
Stephen Joseph Knoll, 90, of Spring Trail, Sandy Hook, died May 12, in Danbury Health Care Center. He was the husband of Catherine (Rentler) Knoll.
Mr Knoll was born in New York City on April 7, 1914, a son of the late Stephen and Elizabeth Knoll. During World War II, he served four years in the US Army in the Pacific Theater. A resident of Sandy Hook for the past 47 years, Mr Knoll was employed as a machinist for 17 years by the Bard Parker Corp. He then worked for the Town of Newtown Highway Department until his retirement in 1979.
Steve was a longtime board member of the Cedarhurst Association, and had served as a constable and member of the Lake Zoar Authority. He was life member of VFW Post #149 in Danbury.
In addition to his wife of 57 years, he is survived by a son, Stephen J. Knoll and his wife Patty and a grandson, Stephen Daniel Knoll, all of Oakville. He was predeceased by two brothers, Tony and Frank Knoll, and by a sister, Margaret Karlson.
Funeral services were held May 17 from the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, and in St Rose of Lima Church for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in St Rose Cemetery.
