Dullinger Sets Course Record

Newtown’s Tyler Dullinger set a new cross country course record, running the 1.92 miles on the trails behind Reed School in 12:17 as the Newtown Hawks youth cross country team competed on October 6.

The boys were edged out by Brookfield 28-33, and defeated Bethel 33-41 to bring their record to 4-2. Top Newtown finishers were: Dullinger, first; Jabob Steinebrey in sixth; Reilly Rising, seventh; Ethan Burg, ninth; Connor McNerney, tenth; Joel Duval, 11th; and Peter Fagerholm, 13th.

The girls’ team beat Brookfield 33-47 and fell to Bethel 33-31, and also stands at 4-2. Laura Hornby led the team with her second-place finish in 14:23. Top Newtown finishers were: Hornby, second; Molly Begg, sixth; Riley Mulligan, seventh; Julia DiMartino, eighth; Julia Faxon, ninth; Madeleine Meier, 17th; and Megan Nemhias 18th.
