NYFS Tag Sale Scheduled
NYFS Tag Sale Scheduled
By Eliza Hallabeck
Newtown Youth & Family Services (NYFS) will host a special tag sale Saturday, October 1, and multiple donation days will be held at separate locations before that day, according to NYFS Executive Director Candice Foster.
The tag sale will also coincide with the rescheduled Newtown Road Race, which also raises funds for NYFS. The Road Race will be held Saturday, October 1, at Dickinson Memorial Park, starting at 9 am. Contact Race Director Steve Meeker at newtownroadrace@yahoo.com for more details on the Newtown Road Race, or visit www.NewtownRoadRace.com for more information.
Ms Foster said she is hoping people will be able to make it out to both the Newtown Road Race and NYFSâs first tag sale.
The âJust 4 Kids Tag Saleâ will run from 8 am until 1 pm and will be located at Hawley Elementary School.
If families have gently used or new childrenâs items, ranging from clothes to furniture, Ms Foster said NYFS âwould love to be able to pass it on [to another family].â
All items donated to the tag sale collection will be priced reasonably, according to Ms Foster. She also said the last hour of the tag sale, from noon to 1 pm, will have select items marked down to 50 percent off the original asking price.
Money raised through the Just 4 Kids Tag Sale will offset the cost of running childrenâs programs at NYFS, according to Ms Foster.
Local families are asked to donate their gently used items â including clean, gently used childrenâs fall and winter clothing, shoes, sports equipment, baby layette, furniture, toys, games, books, and more â at one of the three designated drop off locations: Newtown Savings Bank in Sand Hill Plaza, 228 South Main Street; C.H. Booth Library at 25 Main Street; and Newtown Youth Academy, 4 Primrose Street, between September 26 and September 28.
Clothing and shoes should be bagged by gender and size, and only fall and winter clothing will be accepted at this time, according to NYFS. Car seats and other infant equipment must be no more than fives years old. NYFS is also asking that all game boxes or puzzles be secured with tape or rubber bands, and for families to ensure no pieces are missing. No stuffed animals, war games/weapons, or Happy Meal toys will be accepted.
Convenient pickup of larger items is also available by calling Kaitlyn at 203-270-4335 to make pickup arrangements.
Volunteers are also needed to help during the event on October 1, as well as for setup and cleanup. If interested, contact Layne Lescault at 203-270-6481 or lclesault@hotmail.com.
