Challenge Mrs Johnson
Democrat Robert Marconi of Brookfield, a Connecticut assistant attorney general, has announced his intention to challenge Congresswoman Nancy Johnson for the Fifth Congressional seat.
He will formally announce his candidacy on Saturday, April 24, at 11 am at Brookfield Town Hall.
In a press release this week, Mr Marconi said, âThis year, more importantly than any other year in recent memory, we Democrats must move aggressively to take back majorities in both Houses in Congress. Democrats must especially challenge Republican incumbents like Nancy Johnson, who have supported in lockstep the failed policies of George W. Bush. Congressman Johnson has been a key supporter of tax cuts for the wealthy, the Iraq war, and a Medicare prescription drug plan that is less a benefit for our seniors than a subsidy to the drug industry.â
Mr Marconi is a graduate of Yale University and the University of Connecticut School of Law. He has a masterâs degree in national security from Georgetown University.
The Connecticut State Democratic Central Committee will hold its Congressional nomination convention on May 10.
