Margaret D. Moynihan

Margaret D. (Galla) Moynihan, 86, of Fairfield, died July 3 in St Vincent’s Medical Center, Bridgeport, after a brief illness.

She was the devoted wife of 53 years to the late Cornelius F. “Tim” Moynihan.

Survivors include her daughters, Rita Moynihan Porado and her husband, David, of Newtown, and Sister Rosemary Moynihan of the Sisters of Charity of Saint Elizabeth of Convent Station, N.J.; two grandchildren, Mary Jane Porado of Glastonbury and Lt John D. Porado, United States Navy; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy H. Moynihan and Mary Fogler, both of Rochester, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs Moynihan was a daily communicant, member of the prayer line, and a devoted member of her Catholic Christian Community. She was a volunteer with the American Red Cross, and served in parish communities as secretary for many years.

Funeral services were held July 7 at St Pius X Church, Fairfield, with a Mass of Christian Burial.

Interment was in St Michael’s Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Sisters of Charity of Saint Elizabeth, PO Box 476, Convent Station, NJ 07961-0476. The Spear Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield, was in charge of arrangements.
