Joseph J. McGrath, Jr, 53, of Stratford, died January 6 at Leeway Nursing Home, New Haven. He was born in Bridgeport, July 9, 1953, son of Celeste Secor McGrath of Stratford and the late Joseph J. McGrath.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by two sisters, Celeste Riccio and her husband, Michael, of Newtown and Florence Stedner and her husband, Gerard, of Stratford; two sons, Joseph and Shawn of San Antonio, Texas; two brothers, Keith McGrath and his wife, Kathy, of Stratford and Stuart McGrath and his wife, Estelle, of Bradenton, Fla.; several nieces and nephews; and dear friends, Philip and Carol Donofrio. His sister, Sheryl Stankowicz, predeceased him.

Mr McGrath was a lifetime area resident and a graduate of Stratford High School. He was employed as a truck driver.

Funeral services were held January 9 from the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main Street, Stratford, and in Our Lady of Peace Church, Stratford, for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment was in Union Cemetery.
