ALAN GOLDSTEIN AT RIVER RUN GALLERY
avv/gs set 10/25 #717459
LAMBERTVILLE, N.J. â River Run Gallery presents âAlan Goldstein: Rock Paper Sand,â on view through December 3.
Goldstein, professor emeritus at Bucks County Community College, will feature his flowing method of painting as well as recent experimentation with geometry.
âThe unimaginable disasters of 2001 demanded emotional responses,â explains Goldstein, âI responded viscerally, almost unwillingly. The flattened architecture cubes became a metaphor for the rooms and spirits destroyed by flying bombs at the World Trade Center.â
The show continues Goldsteinâs fascination with the organic processes of nature, which was highly influenced by a 1998 visit to Japan. The work after 9/11, however, shows a new fascination with the inclusion of form, in many forms.
Some of the works are very geometric, patterns with very subjective color. Other paintings create pattern without geometry. A few of the works consist of one image in a frame, for a few, several frames become one image.
River Run Gallery at the Laceworks is at 287 South Main Street. For more information, 609-397-3349.
