Estimated Tax Payments Due
Estimated Tax Payments Due
HARTFORD â The IRS reminds taxpayers that third quarter federal Estimated Tax payments are due on Monday, September 17, 2001.
In light of published media reports of problems at the Pittsburgh, Penn., lock box, there is some concern on the part of taxpayers about where to send this payment. The IRS requests that taxpayers living in Connecticut continue to send their federal tax payments to the Pittsburgh, Penn., address (IRS, PO Box 371999, Pittsburgh, PA 15250-7999). The IRS has arranged for the US Postal Service to automatically forward these payments to the Bank One lock box in Philadelphia.
Although the IRS prefers that taxpayers use the Bank One lock box, payments may also be sent directly to the IRS Center in Andover at 310 Lowell Street, Andover, MA 01810.
The IRS would like to remind individual and business taxpayers that federal tax payments may also be made by credit card (800-272-9829 or 888-255-8299), or over the Internet by signing up for the new Electronic Federal Tax Payment System (EFTPS).
Businesses and individuals can enroll for EFTPS-Online via the Internet. After enrollment, taxpayers will receive a confirmation kit by mail with instructions for obtaining an Internet password. A unique Personal Identification Number (PIN) will be mailed separately to new EFTPS users for added security.
For more information about EFTPS, log on to the Internet at www.eftps.gov or call 800-555-4477 or 800-945-8400.
