ATV Infomercial

To the Editor:

What a wonderful vote of confidence for the Legislative Council’s stand against all terrain vehicles was provided by the rolling infomercial for a Monroe ATV shop that took advantage of Newtown’s Labor Day Parade to peddle their loud, disruptive, exhaust-belching, terrain-destroying wares.

As the din proceeded down Main Street, people all along the route were exclaiming, “Boy I can’t wait to have one of those come by my house.”

This Monrovian invasion was a timely reminder that Connecticut is not Wyoming, or Nevada, or even Pennsylvania, but a smaller, more crowded place with a limited and fragile wilderness landscape. It should give the council courage to pursue the town noise ordinance “still in the hopper.”
