Dr Daniel J.   Cruson
Dr Daniel J. Cruson of Easton died on April 29 at St Vincentâs Medical Center, Bridgeport, after a short illness.
He was born in Bridgeport on May 24, 1918, and was educated in the Bridgeport school system.
Survivors include his two sons, Daniel J. Cruson, Jr, of Newtown and Peter J. Cruson of Concord, N.H.; and five grandchildren, Daniel, Thomas, and Benjamin Cruson of Newtown and Rachael and Eric Cruson of Concord, N.H.
He received his bachelor of science degree at Trinity College in Hartford, and his DDS degree at Colombia University. After briefly serving as a dentist in the Army during the last years of World War II, he established his practice in the City Trust building in Bridgeport. He retired from that same office in the mid 1980s.
Although his primary profession was dentistry, he also wrote gag ideas for several nationally syndicated cartoonists during the 1950s and 1960s. His wife, Brenda Getchell, predeceased him by 12 years.
A memorial service will be held at the Easton Congregational Church at 1 pm on May 24.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory should be made to the Easton Historical Society.
The Spear Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield, is in charge of the arrangements.
