Storytelling Highlights

Discovery Museum Magic Hour

BRIDGEPORT — Contemporary children’s stories combined with a crafts project make up the “Museum Magic Hour” — a series of Saturday morning programs presented regularly at The Discovery Museum.

During “Museum Magic Hour,” stories are told by a professional storyteller to children ages 21/2  to 5 years old, who then make a memento related to the story to take home with them.

Museum Magic Hours begin at 10:30 am and there is a $12 fee, which includes admission to all other museum attractions. For information and reservations, call 203/372-3521, extension 129.

The fall schedule is as follows:

September 3, My Many Colored Days by Dr. Seuss with paintings by S. Johnson & L. Fancher; October 7, Bunny Cakes by Rosemary Wells; October 21, Big Pumpkin by Erica Silverman; November 4, The Diggers by Margaret Wise Brown; November 18, Turkey’s Gift to the People by Ani Rucki; December 2, Peter’s Chair by Ezra Jack Keats; December 16, The Dog Who Found Christmas by Linda Jennings; and December 30, Let’s Go Home Little Bear by Martin Waddell.

The Discovery Museum is at 4450 Park Avenue, one mile south of the Merritt Parkway. Fall hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 10 am to 5 pm; Sunday, noon to 5 pm.
