Aldrich To Host ‘After Hours’ By Josh Rouse

RIDGEFIELD — The Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art will host an Aldrich After Hours with the performance folk/pop artist Josh Rouse on Friday, September 29, from 7 to 9 pm. Tickets are $20 each; seating is limited and reservations are required.

A Nebraska native, 27-year old singer/songwriter Josh Rouse’s sophomore release, 1999’s Home (Ryko/Slow River), has been met with wide critical acclaim. The Washington, D.C. City Paper described Home as the “middle-American companion to [Radiohead’s] OK Computer” and Mr Rouse was recently listed in Spin magazine’s top 20 as a “super good singer/songwriter.”

In addition to touring with such musical veterans as Aimee Mann, Joe Henry, Cowboy Junkies and Vic Chestnutt, Mr Rouse has performed on Late Night With Conan O’Brien and has been featured in the popular publications Entertainment Weekly and Esquire.

Mr Rouse’s style stems from British post-punk with a voice that seems to recall the legendary jazz vocalist Chet Baker.

“That’s where I’m trying to get to,” Rouse has said. “Just simple, beautiful, joyous songs.”

The Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art is at 258 Main Street/Route 35 in Ridgefield. For directions and tickets, call the museum at 203/438-4519.
