Chamber Planning Two Popular Activities
The Chamber of Commerce of Newtown is gearing up for two of its most well-received events of the year.
The business organization is collaborating with Ashlar of Newtown on its annual BBQ for the chamber Thursday, September 20, from 5 to 7 pm, at 139 Toddy Hill Road.
Tom Gutner, president of Ashlar of Newtown, and his team are hosting this networking experience for local business people. Every year, the facilityâs cooking staff prepares a feast for the chamber, and attendees are invited to tour the facility and learn more about the services provided by both Ashlar of Newtown and Lockwood Lodge.
There is no charge to attend this event and it is happening rain or shine. Call the chamber office at 426-2695 for details.
Just a few days later, the Newtown Chamber is hosting its Annual Golf Outing on Tuesday, September 25, at the Newtown Country Club. Proceeds of this event will go to support the C.H. Booth Library, which is celebrating it 75th anniversary. The event is sponsored by Peopleâs United Bank and Ashlar of Newtown, Union Savings Bank, Curtis Packaging, and the Chamber of Commerce of Newtown.
Events include a lunch at noon, shotgun start at 1 pm and a Business After Hours networking event at 5. Awards will be given for first, second, closest to the line, closest to the pin, and longest drive for men and women.
The annual Chamber Golf Outing is an opportunity for fun and networking with local business leaders. Nongolfers are encouraged to join the group for a cocktail hour, including appetizers, at the Business After Hours beginning directly after golf.
The golf tournament committee includes Peter Giarratano of P&M Consulting, Chamber President Pat Linnell, Carole Georges of Peopleâs United Bank, Maureen Birden of Newtown Savings Bank, and Tom Gutner of Ashlar of Newtown who worked with Mark Simms, president of the country club, and Paul Miller, the clubâs Golf Pro.
Tickets are $75 per person, which includes lunch, golf and the Business After Hours. Nongolfers are welcome to attend the Business After Hours only at no charge.
Reservations and prepayment are required for golf and lunch. Contact Alice Baye at the Chamber of Commerce of Newtown business office for more information or to register at 426-6650.
