Temporary ‘Powwow’ At IAIS

WASHINGTON — The Institute for American Indian Studies is presenting a new temporary exhibit by the photographer Thomas A. Hoffman.

Mr Hoffman is a photographer of widely diverse landscapes which include the Arctic, undersea and photography from high elevations, as from a hot air balloon. The exhibit, “Living Traditions: The Spirit of Native American Powwows” features a photographic essay called “Native American Powwows,” capturing the spirit and tradition of the powwow as an important American Indian social and cultural event.

“Living Traditions” will be featured in the IAIS Alfred M. Darlow Museum Gallery through January 8. The exhibit is included in the regular IAIS admissions fee of $4 for adults.

For additional information, call 860/868-0518. The museum is at 38 Curtis Drive.
