Capri Agresta, a sixth grade student at Reed Intermediate School, was awarded a gold medal for a perfect score on a Greek Mythology Exam in which she recently participated.

The national exam is administered to students in elementary, intermediate, and middle school, grades three through nine.  A majority of the students taking the exam are middle school students.

A total of 9,000 students participated nationally in the exam, of which ten percent were recipients of the gold medal. According to the American Classical League, which administered the exam, there were 133 sixth grade students who participated, with seven percent of those students achieving a perfect score.

The format of the exam includes a section on Greek and Roman mythology which is required for all students in grades three through nine. Students in grade six through nine are also required to answer questions from one literary subtest. Their subtest choices were: The Iliad, The Odyssey, Aeneid, African Myths, Native American Myths, or Norse Myths. Capri’s literary choice was The Odyssey.
