What’s So Funny About Connecticut?

WATERBURY — Seven Angels Theatre has announced that the preliminary round of auditions for comedians for the CT Comedy Festival will be held on June 24. This preliminary round of auditions will be followed by a semifinals round on July 15, and will culminate in the 2nd Annual Laugh-Off “What’s So Funny About CT?” on July 22.

Auditions will be held at Seven Angels Theatre, Hamilton Park Pavilion, on Plank Road.

Preliminary auditions for June 24 are by appointment only; contact Jessica Grover at 203/591-8223. Comedians can also audition by sending a video tape, which must be received by June 17. Those selected through the video process must be present to perform live for the semifinalist round on July 15.

Send videos to Seven Angels Theatre, PO Box 3358, Waterbury, CT 06705. Enclose an SASE if you want your video returned.

Auditions are open to professionals and non-professionals, male and female Connecticut comedians, stand-up comics, comic impressionists and comedy prop acts. Those auditioning must be age 18 and over. It is suggested that some material be related to Connecticut for the theme “What is so funny about CT?”

Those selected from the June 24 preliminary auditions will go on to perform that evening before an audience. Winners from this first round receive prizes, and will continue to the semifinals performance before an audience on July 15.

On July 22, finalists will perform before a theater audience and live on CPTV. Cash prizes are awarded and winners are guaranteed professional bookings from a professional talent agent.

Comedians must prepare five minutes of material for both the June 24 preliminary and July 15 semi-finalist round; 10-12 minutes of material is required for the CPTV broadcast on July 22.
