New CEO At St Vincentâs
BRIDGEPORT ââ Susan L. Davis has been appointed president and chief executive officer for St Vincentâs Medical Center and St Vincentâs Health Services, a member of Ascension Health, St Louis, Mo., and New York Presbyterian Healthcare, New York.
Dr Davis comes to St Vincentâs from Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., after an 18-year career including service as the medical centerâs CEO for the past three years.
Sr Margaret John Kelly, chairperson of the board of directors for St Vincentâs, said that Dr Davis was the unanimous choice of the board after a lengthy national search and will assume her responsibilities on February 16.
Dr Davis received a bachelor of science in nursing from Mt Saint Mary College, Newburgh, N.Y., a master of arts in nursing administration and doctorate of education from Columbia University with an emphasis on management. She is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, American Organization of Nurse Executives, as well as many other professional affiliations.
Dr Davis will lead St Vincentâs Health Services, an integrated system of care that includes Hall-Brooke Behavioral Services in Westport, St Vincentâs Special Needs Services in Trumbull, St Vincentâs Foundation, and St Vincentâs College. In 2003, St Vincentâs celebrated its centennial year and looked to the future by opening a new 70,000-square-foot entrance and outpatient pavilion.
âDr Davis has demonstrated throughout her career a solid understanding of the importance of relating mission and margin,â Sr Kelly said. âThe Board of Directors was impressed with her demonstrated executive ability, her goal of excellent clinical outcomes, and her commitment to high quality patient care. We were also impressed with the effective working relationships she maintained with medical and nursing staffs.â
Since 1992, Dr Davis has served in senior management roles at Vassar Brothers Medical Center including vice president of nursing, executive vice president and chief operating officer, and since 2001, president and chef executive officer. In her role there, she developed and implemented a variety of successful clinical services, including a new regional heart center for residents of the upstate New York area.
