John R. Skok
The death of John R. Skok, 69, of Corn Tassle Road, Danbury, occurred at Putnam Ridge, Putnam Valley, N.Y., February 9. He was the husband of Janet R. Skok.
He was the father of Nadine M. DeLallo of Newtown.
Born in Yonkers, N.Y., son of John and Mary Skok, he attended Yonkers schools and was a graduate of Yonkers High School, class of 1950. He made his home in Yonkers before moving to Danbury in 1967.
Mr Skok was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the Air Force for four years. He was a recipient of the 3rd Korean Winter Ribbon and the Korean Service Medal.
He was a steamfitter by trade with Union Local No 543 of New York for 40 years, retiring in 1991.
Mr Skok was a member of St Gregory the Great Church and of the Catholic War Veterans.
Besides his wife and daughter, surviving are two sons, Glenn J. Skok and Darren J. Skok of Danbury; another daughter, Diane R. Vitti of Danbury; one brother, Edward Skok of Florida; a sister, Irene Sousa of Carey, N.C.; eight grandchildren, Randy, Jesse, Amee, Stefan, Trevor, and Nina Skok, Devin Vitti and Jamison, David Robert, Jr, Donald DeLallo, Toby and Ashley Skok, and Ronny Vitti.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St Gregory the Great Church, 85 Great Plain Road, Danbury, February 13. Interment was in St Peter Cemetery.
Cornell Memorial Home was in charge of arrangements.
