Police To Collect Toys For Tots

Town police will hold their seventh annual “Stuff a Cop Car with Toys for Tots” event on Saturday, December 9, at Sand Hill Plaza at 228 South Main Street.

Police will be positioned in front of KB Toyworks from 10 am to 2 pm, rain or shine, to collect donations of new unwrapped toys and donations of money to buy new toys.

The US Marine Corps Reserve, which sponsors the holiday Toys for Tots toy collection program, will provide town police with the use of a box truck to store the collected toys, according to police Officer Maryhelen McCarthy, who organizes the event locally.

Newtown police run one of the largest toy collection programs for Toys for Tots in the area. The toys will be distributed as holiday gifts to needy children in the area.

A Toys for Tots collection bin for donations of toys is located in the police station lobby at 3 Main Street.
