Mr and Mrs Derek M. Rappaport

Kara Melissa Smith and Derek Mayer Rappaport were married on October 16 at Old North Church in Boston, Mass., with the Rev Steven Ayres officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Dunham and Rebecca Smith of Sandy Hook, and the granddaughter of Mr and Mrs Homer Hopkins of Sandy Hook and Mr and Mrs Albert Smith of Roxbury.

The groom is the son of Louise Rappaport of Hanover, Mass.

The bride was given in marriage by her parents.

The maid of honor was Tiina Petersen of Cheshire.

The bridesmaids were Julie Klingeman of Cincinnati, Ohio; Jessica Fisher of Cambridge, Mass.; Jessica Feinberg of Chevy Chase, Md; and Kristen Ostrum of Irving, Tex.

Best man was Daryl M. Rappaport of Leesburg, Va., the groom’s brother.

The ushers were Jon and Mike Roy, nephews of the groom, of Leominster, Mass.; Charlie Barnicoat of Marshfield, Mass.; Sean Cashman of Hanover, Mass.; and Daniel Smith, brother of the bride, of Sandy Hook.

The bride graduated from Newtown High School in 1991 and Wittenberg University with a bachelor’s of arts in sociology. She is employed by Boston Beer Company as an investor in relations.

The groom graduated from Hanover High School and Northeastern University with a bachelor’s of science in biology. He is a paramedic with Boston EMS.

The reception was held at Seaport Hotel in Boston.

Following a wedding trip to St Lucia, the couple are residing in South Boston, Mass.
