Cancer Society Honors Gerics
WILTON â The American Cancer Society of Southwestern Connecticut honored Ivette Gerics of Newtown at its recent annual Volunteer Recognition Reception.
Ms Gerics was the recipient of the cancer societyâs special recognition award for ensuring that the nonprofit agencyâs Daffodil Days campaign this year was a success.
âIvetteâs dedication and patience were remarkable considering that the truck delivering the daffodils from Washington arrived 24 hours later,â said Charlotte Amstrong, president of the Lower Fairfield Board.
The American Cancer Society is always in need of volunteers to do office work, help with support and education programs, special events, and other projects. The next big project is the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk to be held on October 15 in Westport in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
