Pastel Society Of America Hall Of Famer

To Offer Art Demo At Meeting House, November 28

The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) will host a pastel landscape painting demonstration by Frank Federico on Wednesday, November 28, at 1:30 pm, in the lower meeting room of Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street. The public is welcome, free of charge.

Frank Federico began his career as a boy in New Orleans. He painted vibrant landscapes of the bayou and sketched jazz musicians who played the clubs along Bourbon Street. In continuing his love for jazz, which had a significant influence in his art, Mr Federico was a founding member of Litchfield Jazz Festival. His art can be viewed annually at the event.

At home in Litchfield, Mr Federico is celebrated as both a master artist and teacher, having won awards in from American Watercolor Society, The Pastel Society of America and The International Association of Pastel Societies.

He leads art workshops both locally and internationally. Recognition of his vibrant painting style has appeared in numerous publications and in March 2005, American Artist magazine featured his work in a six page article.

Mr Federico’s work has been featured in many one-man and group shows, including international exhibitions in Tokyo and Stockholm. He holds elected/signature artist membership in Allied Artists of America, Pastel Society of America, Degas Pastel Society, National Watercolor Society and Rockport Art Association.

In September during the Pastel Society of America’s 40th Anniversary Dinner at the National Arts Club in New York City, Mr Federico was inducted into the PSA Hall Of Fame, of  which only 27 people in the world have been given the honor.

Reservations are not needed for SCAN programs, but additional information is available from Ruth Newquist at 203-426-6654.
