Field Hockey Success

The annual Newtown Field hockey camp was held at Treadwell Park this past week. The Field Hockey camp is organized through the Recreation Department with help from some of the Newtown High School varsity high school field hockey players.

All week long, Camper of the Day awards were given to campers as selected by the high school coaches. Recipients of these awards through out the week were: Sami Arnold, Julia Bogdanoff, Julia Faxon, Katie Goyda, Grace Herrick, Caitlyn Keane, Isabella Luciano, Katelyn McCarthy, Allie Paynter, Emma Schmid-Tharnish, Kayla O’Sullivan, Alli Kelleher, and Jillian Chanko.

To close out the end of the camp, 12 girls were chosen to an all star team which was challenged by members of the high school squad.  It was a hard-fought game with the high schoolers coming out on top 4-3.
