Hometown Fuel Promises Competitive Prices, Prompt Service
Hometown Fuel Promises Competitive Prices, Prompt Service
By John Voket
For part of his work week, Newtowner Rich Paltauf rushes to put the heat out as a battalion chief for the Waterbury Fire Department. But when he returns home, he is rushing around trying to help his customers keep the heat on as the owner of Hometown Fuel.
The single-truck owner-operator has been working a second job as a fuel delivery driver for ten years, and recently made an investment by purchasing his own vehicle and establishing a home office, which is managed by his wife, Cindy, who retired from teaching to care for the coupleâs two young children.
âWeâre just a small town, family-owned company. But we can offer competitive prices and prompt service throughout the western Connecticut area,â Mr Paltauf said from his home in the Dodgingtown neighborhood.
Besides his âday jobâ as a firefighter in Waterbury, he is also an active volunteer and lifetime member of Newtown Hook & Ladder. He also has a trusted network of associates he refers to his fuel clients in the event they need maintenance and repairs to their heating systems.
Hometown Fuel does not offer any kind of prepurchase or contract programs, which helps keep overhead, and his prices, low. But he does accept all major credit cards as well as cash and checks.
He also works with the Community Action Center of Danbury providing deliveries to their clients who are part of the regional fuels assistance network.
