Bertha Diederich

Longtime Resident Of

The Bronx

Bertha Diederich, 92, of Oxford, died March 27 in River Glen Health Care Center, Southbury. Mrs Diederich was the wife of the late Richard Diederich. She was born in New York City on September 2, 1914, a daughter of George and Elizabeth (Wabst) Geil.

Mrs Diederich is survived by her daughter, Betty Lou Weiss, formerly of Sandy Hook, and her husband, Russ, of Oxford. Mr Weiss is a teacher at Newtown High School. A brother, Bill Kennedy and a sister, Dolores Hoffman, both of Indianapolis, Ind.; four grandchildren, Charlie Hastey of New Milford, Donna Lynn Taylor of Orange Park, Fla., Michael Hastey of Bethlehem, and Diana Lee Hupprich of Beacon Falls; and six great-grandchildren also survive Mrs Diederich.

Mrs Diederich was longtime resident of the Bronx, N.Y., and was employed as a sales clerk for Macy’s Department Store. Bertha was also a resident of New Port Richey, Fla., for 20 years. She lived in Oxford with her daughter for four years before entering River Glen.

Funeral services and interment in Long Island National Cemetery will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are in care of the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown.
