Chevon Miles has attained high honors at Notre Dame Catholic High School for the third marking period.
Newtown High School senior Edward Small was awarded the John Dickinson Scholarship, worth $15,000 per year, from Dickinson College in Carlisle, Penn. The award is in recognition of superior academic achievement and leadership in high school. It is renewable for three additional years of resident study at Dickinson or an affiliated academic year study abroad program. Edward is the son of Susan and Stephen Small of Sandy Hook.
Sandy Hook resident Jordan Miles, a student in the school of International Service majoring in international studies at American University in Washington, D.C., was inducted into American Universityâs chapter of Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society at a ceremony on Sunday, April 2. Alpha Lambda Delta is a national society that honors academic excellence during a studentâs first year at college.
Casey McManus, the daughter of Tracey and Paul McManus, recently participated in the fifth annual Scholarship Competition at Lynchburg College in Lynchburg, Va. Casey was among 286 students competing for outstanding scholarships through completion of an essay writing contest and interviews with Lynchburg College faculty members. The scholarship competition was held to recognize the achievements of those students who excel in the Lynchburg College traditions of scholarship, leadership, and community service.
