Green Chimneys Center Offers New

Wildlife Program For Students

BREWSTER, N.Y. — Green Chimneys is now offering a new wildlife program for children in grades three through six. The program will teach children more about wildlife and the environment and will include a study of the more than 50 permanently disabled birds of prey and 380 animals that are residents of the Green Chimneys Wildlife Conservation Center.

This program will be held three days a week and will be offered during the school year only. The program will include a tour of the Green Chimneys Wildlife Conservation Center and a formal lecture. There will also be activity sheets for children that will focus on increasing the students’ knowledge of wildlife and the environment.

Brenda Chipkin, a licensed wildlife rehabilitator at Green Chimneys, is the program’s instructor. She has been employed by Green Chimneys for five years. She is a graduate of Lehman College and is a certified veterinary technician. According to Green Chimneys Founder Samuel B. Ross, Jr, “We feel that the 160 acres that are a part of our campus offer many animal, plant, and environmental opportunities which we would like to make available to both children and adults.”

Green Chimneys offers many other adventure, recreational, and environmental programs to the public. To learn more about the wildlife program and tours or any of these programs or schedule a visit, please call 845/279-2995, ext 104.
