Absentee Ballots Available For Nov 7 Election
Absentee Ballots Available For Nov 7 Election
Town Clerk Cindy Simon advises Newtown voters that absentee ballots are available for the state election to be held in Newtown on November 7, 2000. Any qualified registered voter may vote by absentee if unable to vote in person due to illness of physical disability; absence from town during voting hours; religious beliefs which forbid secular activity; active US military service; and service as an election official at polling place other than his/her own polling place.
College students, Armed Forces personnel, and any other people unable to vote in person are urged to obtain absentee ballot applications as soon as possible so that the ballots meet the deadline process. The cut-off date for registering to vote is October 24 and for information on registering, please contact the Registrar of Votersâ office at 270-4250.
The applications for absentee ballots are available at the Town Clerkâs office, Monday through Friday, 8 am to 4:30 pm, and can be obtained in person or by mail. Special hours for absentee voting will be held on Saturday, November 4, from 9 am to 12 pm, at the town clerkâs office at 45 Main Street in Edmond Town Hall. If you should have any questions regarding absentee ballots, contact the town clerkâs office at 270-4210.
