Youth Arrested After Church Hill Road Incident
Police report that they arrested an unidentified youth on eight charges following an incident that occurred about 10 pm February 3 on Church Hill Road.
Police termed the male a âyouthful offender,â meaning that he is either 16 or 17 years old. Under a state law that recently took effect, police and the courts now conceal the identities of youths ages 16 and 17 who are charged with crimes.
Police report that they stopped the boy after they spotted him drive through a stop sign and then fail to drive on the right side of the road. After he was stopped, the boy became upset and nervous, police said.
The youth then refused to exit his vehicle, police said. A search then turned up two small bags of marijuana, police added.
Police then called in their police dog to search the vehicle. The dog located one large bag and seven small bags of marijuana, plus drug paraphernalia, police said.
The boy then failed sobriety tests at the police station, police added.
Police arrested the boy on charges of violating a stop sign, failure to drive to the right, driving under the influence, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of less than four ounces of marijuana, possession of marijuana within 1,500 feet of a school, and interfering with police.
Police said that they held the arrested boy on $10,000 bail for an appearance on February 6 at Danbury Youthful Offender Court.
