Guy G. Gardiner
Guy G. Gardiner, 83, of Danbury, beloved husband of Deborah (Carr) Gardiner, died peacefully at Danbury Hospital November 23. He was born in Newtownville, Mass., March 7, 1931, and was the son of the late Virginia (Gibson) and Frank D. Gardiner.
In addition to his wife of 61 years, he leaves his devoted daughter Pamela G. Mickewich and her husband Robert of Newtown; his granddaughter Katherine; his daughter-in-law Diane D. Giardina of New Fairfield; his brothers-in-law David Carr, and his wife Barbara, and Robert Carr; and several nieces and nephews. His beloved son, Bruce F. Gardiner, predeceased him.
Mr Gardiner was a graduate of Loomis Chaffee Prep School in Windsor, Class of 1950. He then attended Philadelphia Textile College and Lowell Textile College.
He was a veteran of the Korean War, proudly serving as a crew chief on a C-47 for the United States Air Force.
He retired as a district sales manager for Kimberly Clark, after 35 years of employment.
Mr Gardiner was a 32nd Degree Mason, and a charter member of the Danbury Men’s Club. He enjoyed traveling, and was an avid reader and golfer. In the spring he could often be found strolling the Siesta Key beach with Debby by his side. His spontaneous sense of humor was infectious, and will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him. Most importantly, Mr Gardiner was a dedicated and loving husband, father, and grandfather, who cherished his family.
A memorial service will take place Sunday, December 7, at 2 pm, at the Congregational Church of New Fairfield. In spring 2015, a service of interment will be held at the church for family and friends.
