Cloudscape In Acrylic, Wednesday
The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) will host Charles Ray demonstrating painting of a cloudscape in acrylic on Wednesday, October 22, at 1:30 pm. The program will be held in the lower level of Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street (at the flagpole).
The demonstration is open to the public, free of charge.
Mr Ray, a well known Connecticut artist, served as the director of Silvermine School of Arts in New Canaan between 1993 and 1997. He has taught painting and drawing at the school for over a decade and is a Silvermine Guild artist member.
He also taught a popular “Still Life Plus” class at Rowayton Arts Center in 2000, and retired as an instructor in 2011.
Mr Ray has also worked as the cultural affairs coordinator for the Commission on the Arts in Bridgeport under the National Endowment for the Arts.
He has participated in numerous one-person shows and has been in group and museum shows throughout Connecticut, New York and neighboring states, and has won many awards. In addition, he has been commissioned for many corporate and private portraits.
Mr Ray graduated from Hartford Art School, and also studied at Yale School of Art. He resides in Redding and spends his time painting and teaching students privately.
