Harold E. Gantert

Harold E. Gantert, 84, of Sandy Hook, husband of Anna Mary (Burns) Gantert, died July 13. He was born February 9, 1928, in Danbury, son of Lena (Ginty) and Emil J. Gantert.

Mr Gantert worked as a line supervisor for CL&P and was a veteran of the US Army, serving in the 43rd Infantry Division.

He loved to travel and take island cruises. Mr Gantert enjoyed cooking, working outside, and was an avid gardener. He enjoyed playing golf, skiing, and was a die-hard Red Sox fan.

He was a devoted father who fostered an unending bond among his family, which he viewed as his greatest achievement. Mr Gantert was a loving grandfather who was very involved with his grandchildren’s activities.

In addition to his loving wife of 61 years, he will be missed by his two sons, Joseph E. Gantert, and his wife Patricia, of Sandy Hook and Harold D. Gantert, and his wife Amy, of New Milford; three grandchildren; and his sister May Heintz.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated July 18. Burial was in St Peter Cemetery, Danbury.

The family has asked that donations be made in Mr Gantert’s name to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105 or online at www.stjude.org; or to the Paralyzed Veteran’s of America, 801 Eighteenth Street NW, Washington DC 20006-3517.
