Anne D. Warford, 71, of Sandy Hook, formerly of Bethel, died January 20. She was the wife of the late Robert J. McManus, and the late Stanley Warford. Mrs Warford was born in Danbury, August 22, 1935, the daughter of Richard and Elizabeth (Dawson) Durgy.

She was lifelong resident of Bethel until recently moving to the Sandy Hook area.

She was a graduate of Bethel High School, and attended the Danbury State Teachers College. As a young woman, she was very active in Bethel Republican politics, and in the Bethel community. She was a longtime employee of the Banta Marketing Group, retiring in November.

Mrs Warford loved to spend time with her many friends and family, and was an avid fan of both UConn women’s basketball, and the New York Mets. She was a parishioner of St Mary Church, Bethel.

Mrs Warford is survived by her children, Beth Cavagna and her husband, Charles, of Bethel, Margaret Cooke and her husband, John, of Danbury, Patricia Schwebler and her husband, Gerhard, of Kennebunk, Maine, Brian McManus of Bethel, and Matthew McManus and his wife, Maritza, of Daytona Beach, Fla.; two sisters, Patricia Barlow and her husband, John, of Bridgewater and Mary Wiese of North Hollywood, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Following cremation, a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 26, at St Mary Church, Bethel, at 10 am with burial in St Mary Cemetery, Bethel.

A memorial gathering was scheduled at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street, Danbury, on Thursday, January 25, from 5 to 8 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Stony Hill Fire Department, 59 Stony Hill Road, Bethel CT 06801, or to the Hanahoe Children’s Clinic, 205 Main Street, Danbury CT 06810.
