‘PAUL RICKERT: A SEAWARD VIEW’ OPENS APRIL 24 AT FISCHBACH GALLERY

avv/gs set 4/9 #735212

NEW YORK CITY — The Fischbach Gallery will present “A Seaward View” by Paul Rickert, opening April 24 and on view through May 24. A reception for the artist will take place Thursday, April 24, from 5 to 7 pm. This is Rickert’s fourth exhibition at the Fischbach Gallery.

Few contemporary painters can match Rickert’s ability to capture the tranquil charm, innate natural beauty and changing weather of the Maine coastline. For more than three decades, working in oil and watercolor, he has conveyed the expansiveness of water and horizons, dramatic shifts in weather, effects of light and the solidity of vernacular architecture.

Rickert’s art grows out of intense study of nature and a full understanding of light, shadow and form at different times of day. As the paintings demonstrate here, his most successful works are combinations of his observation, emotions and technique. Rickert’s style is a painterly realism that conveys both the look and feel of coastal Maine.

Born in Philadelphia in 1947, Rickert studied with Nelson Shanks and at the Los Angeles Art Center College of Design. He resides in both Philadelphia and Brooksville, Maine.

The Fischbach Gallery is between 24th and 25th Streets at 210 Eleventh Avenue. For information, 212-759-2345 or www.fischbachgallery.com.
