David Livingston Todd

David Livingston Todd, 52, Newtown, died unexpectedly, June 14. He was born September 9, 1959, in Baltimore to Diane Rosenquest and Todd James Herbert Todd.

Mr Todd spent a happy youth in Fairfield, educated at Fairfield Country Day and Fairfield Preparatory. He studied at the renowned Glen Fishback School of Photography in Sacramento, a protégé of Ansel Adams whom he greatly admired. He was also very proud to have had the opportunity to work in the early years for Bill Graham Productions as a stagehand for the Grateful Dead.

He established David Todd Photography in San Francisco, where he specialized in architectural photography. It was there that he began a successful career and there that he met his wife, Gretchen Tatum. The couple relocated to Fairfield County to continue Mr Todd’s photography, and to be close to his family.

The Todds were blessed with a son, Trevor Livingston Todd, on January 17, 1992.

After many successful years in his own business, Mr Todd joined with his great friend Doug Elliott, of Amishland Sheds, as sales manager and as an essential part of growing the company in Ridgefield. Mr Todd was such the gentleman that he flourished in marketing, due to his innate ability to draw people to him with humor and sincerity.

Mr Todd leaves behind his wife, Gretchen Tatum Todd of Newtown; his mother, Diane Rosenquest Todd of Evanston, Ill.; and a brother, James Herbert Todd, Jr, of Chicago. He also leaves behind the Reverend Jeannette DePriest of Evanston; a beloved aunt and uncle, John and Mary Pagnucco of Winnetka, Ill.; along with a much loved, extended family in Kentucky and California. His father, James Herbert Todd, preceded him in death.

His greatest love and accomplishment in life was his son, Trevor Livingston Todd of Newtown, who will forever miss “The Best Dad Ever.”

Ms Todd and Trevor would like to thank everyone for their caring love and kind support during this time of profound grief.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be announced privately.

Please consider a donation in his memory to Kevin’s Community Center, 153 South Main Street, Newtown CT 06470 or www.kevinscommunitycenter.org.
