PeaceJam takes place this year on Saturday and Sunday, March 15 and 16, and is intended as a place for young people to learn how to transform fears and frustrations into positive actions. This year, The Newtown Foundation has invited urban youth to attend with young people from Sandy Hook and Newtown. The Newtown Foundation is offering scholarships to teens wishing to attend.peacejam.org.

The foundation will also participate in the 24-hour online Fairfield County Giving Day, which takes place Friday, March 7. This event is sponsored by the Fairfield County Community Foundation to raise funds for area charities. Among the incentives to "give where you live" that day, the charity that receives the most donations will receive an additional $25,000 prize.
Support for the Newtown Foundation, a local group formed post-12/14, focused on educational, healing, and cultural programs, could result in earnings that enable the group to help local youth and victims of violence in communities everywhere. To find out more visit .fccfoundation.org
Meditation on Mourning,"a sculptural installation" donated to the Newtown Foundation this past year, will travel from Newtown to the Nation's Capitol, where it will be installed March 11 at Washington's National Cathedral for a month. Sculpture artist Susan Woods will install and open the exhibition, and meet Team 26 bicycle riders as they arrive in Washington, D.C., that day, as they complete their second anual ride from Sandy Hook.
The installation will also help kick off the National Gun Violence Prevention Sabbath Weekend that the Cathedral is leading with Faiths United Against Gun Violence.
