Pitch In, Newtown!
Pitch In, Newtown!
To the Editor:
Iâm writing in response to Holly Gottneierâs letter about the little problem.
I agree that that town should provide trash cans around town, if they donât already.
But the majority of the trash isnât coming from someone merely throwing a wrapper out of the car window or leaving an empty coffee cup at a bench downtown.
Itâs coming from the garbage trucks and recycling trucks that havenât secured their loads.
Iâve witnessed this on many occasions from both types of trucks and I think itâs a disgrace that the police arenât enforcing the law.
The issue here is that we need to either report it to the police or to the town hall who contracts the recycling company.
I can always be reassured that itâs recycling day when I see plastic containers lying all over the roads. And itâs disgusting and ridiculous to see bags of garbage strewn along the roadsides of our beautiful town because of some careless drives of a dump truck whoâs in a hurry.
Newtown is turning into a dump because no on cares.
Letâs all pitch in!
