Classical Versus Classique Discussion Â
Classical Versus Classique Discussion Â
WATERBURY â United States Pony Clubs National Examiner Maureen Pach, a British Horse Society assistant instructor, will host a video at Post University at 7:15 pm on Monday, March 29. Pach will present a portion of this four-part DVD series by Philippe Karl, a well-respected trainer in Europe, and discuss his book Twisted Truths of Modern Dressage. The discussion period will consider the natural path of classical dressage and the tradition of the masters.
This is of particular interest at this time due to the outcry over the use of the hyper flexion training method currently used by some riders. Currently the Federation Equestre Internationale is trying to establish standards to prevent the method at shows.
The Classical vs Classique movie and discussion will explain the pros and cons of different methods of training. Pach has attended clinics with Karl and will share her thoughts and insights on dressage training, and lead the discussion on the latest developments in the dressage world about this controversial subject.
The program will take place in MacDermid Hall (Room 116) on the Post University campus, 800 Country Club Road in Waterbury. Admission is $10 at the door, and is free to Post students. Parking is available in the visitor lot or the North lot on Country Club Road (just off I-84 exit 17).
The Quiz the Experts series is organized by the Post University Equine Resource Committee, to provide topical and up to date information on subjects related to the ownership, care, and training of horses for students and local horse lovers. Proceeds from the lecture series benefit student scholarships for the Equine Business Management Program at the University. For information, call 203-596-4631 or email CBaker@post.edu.
