Newtown, Standing Together

To the Editor:

When there is a disaster we have quite a team in Newtown to get us through! I was grateful to see the Red Cross set up at the NMS helping those who needed shelter or just a quick warm stop in. They have been there with warm smiles ready to help!

To our town workers, busting their humps without much appreciation, clearing miles and miles of roads in all of Newtown. To these men and women from other states coming in and not seeing their families as they get us safe again! These crews are not familiar with our back roads, which is all of Newtown. Neighbors checking in on each other and many helping in all kinds of ways.

A very big thank you to Pat Llodra for keeping everyone informed on the progress as well as pushing CL&P and bringing in as many different groups to help clear the roads and get the power up and going. Masonicare jumped forward at the start, especially for those with medical needs. Ending with our owner-operators using their own vehicles on a Sunday to verify the road conditions for the children’s safety. I’ve lived in Newtown my whole life and when this nightmare hit I remembered why I love it so much! We stand together as a family!
