Margaret Ferrer Derbyshire

Margaret (Jones) Ferrer Derbyshire, 77, of Niantic, formerly of Old Saybrook, died May 19 at her home after a long illness. She was the wife of Kenneth Derbyshire.

She was the mother of Michael Ferrer and Caroline Jessup of Newtown.

Born in New York on November 10, 1922, Mrs Derbyshire was the daughter of the late John and Marie (Keough) Jones. She owned and operated the M.R. Ferrer Real Estate Company in New Canaan before her retirement. She was a member of the Republican Town Committee in Old Saybrook. She lived in Niantic for the past year and was formerly of Old Saybrook and New Canaan.

Beside her husband, son and daughter, she leaves another daughter, Alice Desmond of Duxbury, Mass.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Barbara King, and a brother, Col John Paul Jones II.

The funeral was held from the Swan Funeral Home, 1224 Boston Post Road, Old Saybrook, on May 23 to a Mass of Christian Burial at St John Roman Catholic Church in Old Saybrook.
